Professor Omowale Crenshaw is the founder and managing principal of Geocentric Development Group International, a Washington, D.C. and Cali, Colombia – based real estate development and investment advisory firm.  Simultaneously, Omowale is an adjunct professor of Global Business Strategy, Entrepreneurship, and Real Estate Development at Howard University.  Professor Crenshaw will deliver a brief presentation on Disruptive Technologies and the New Economy, as part of a new course he is current teaching entitled “Business and the New Economy”. 

Mr. Crenshaw was formally a Regional Director for Canyon Capital Realty Advisors with the Canyon-Agassi Charter School Facilities Fund. He was responsible for underwriting, analyzing, negotiating and executing real estate investment opportunities totaling nearly $100MM in the Southeast region of the United States for high-performing charter organizations.

Omowale served as the Managing Director of Capital Asset Development at Howard University, where he led a team of 30 professionals that oversaw capital planning and real estate development.  Under his leadership, the division completed 40 capital projects, including seven significant renovations of academic and university support buildings and the pre-development of two new residence halls, the pre-development of a science and research facility, and the repositioning of 35,000 square feet of retail space on behalf of the University.  The combined projects represented over $300MM in real estate development.  Prior to Howard University, Omowale was Senior Vice President of Operations, for Universal Companies, a South Philadelphia-based community development corporation founded by legendary music mogul Kenneth Gamble.  Mr. Crenshaw was responsible for several operational components including entertainment related real estate projects for the 200-person+ organization.


Mr. Crenshaw formally pursued several entrepreneurial ventures throughout the African continent (Nigeria, Ghana, Moçambique and South Africa) and Latin America (Cuba, Honduras, Venezuela, Colombia, Mexico and Peru).  Prior to his entrepreneurial activities, Omowale was an Associate at strategic consulting firm McKinsey & Company.  He holds a BBA in International Business from Howard University; an MBA in Finance, Strategy and Entrepreneurship from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania; and a Master of Science in International Real Estate Development from The Johns Hopkins University.
